PlayStation 3 fanfolk: "Killzone 3" is here next week. Sony decided to wait until the very last minute to unleash today's news too. On February 22, the day the game hits shelves, people will also have the option of picking up the "Limited Edition PS3 160GB Killzone 3 Bundle."
The news came from a post on the PlayStation Blog. That "Limited Edition" bit is somewhat misleading however. The console doesn't appear to be specially painted or in any other way marked. Nor are there any other bonuses included beyond the standard edition of the game. Sony is probably using the "LE" tag because you won't be able to get this deal for long; the $299.99 price tag on the bundle is the same as the cost of a 160GB PS3, so you're basically getting the game for free if you buy the console with it.
Review embargoes on the Move-supported-but-not-required first-person shooter lifted at the beginning of this month. The game has been generally well-received so far, holding for now at 86 on Metacritic.
If you already have a PS3 console (in which case this bundle isn't for you and you're probably not even reading this post) you can check out the single-player demo for "Killzone 3," which went live yesterday. It comes in 2-D and, for those who are fortunate enough to have the setup, 3-D flavors, though only the 2-D demo offers the chance to try out the game's split-screen co-op action. And of course you won't have much longer to wait now to get the full game for yourself and bring the fight back to those awful Helghast.
